‘Mithyam’ arrives at the Cannes Film Market | Bangalore News

MANGALURU: India being a ‘country of honour’ at the Marché du Film (Cannes Film Market), the commercial counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival, there is a lot of talk about Bollywood celebrities in Cannes. However, the coastal region also has reason to celebrate.
‘Mithyam-The False Truth’, a film directed by Raghu Naik, a native of Gokarna in the Uttara Kannada district, is one of the films presented at the Cannes Film Market. The film is about a diligent doctor named Abhay, who discovers a mysterious increase in mercury poisoning cases among the population.
Raghu Naik, after leaving a lucrative and well-paying software job in Atlanta, USA, moved to Mumbai in 2010 and joined film school in order to professionally pursue his lifelong passion for filmmaking. He became a citizen of the world, working and living in cities like Mumbai, Jakarta and Atlanta, as well as Belagavi and Pune. This exposure to various arts, literatures, cultures and international films is what inspired Raghu to become a filmmaker. He told TOI, “Mithyam is my first feature film as a director and it’s a labor of pure love and hard work. The response at the festival has been good so far.”
Vijay Krishna from Bengaluru plays the role of Sanjay in the film. He is a theater actor and has also acted in several web series.
