Aamir Khan movie suffers 35% drop in ticket sales, earning Rs. 7.8 Cr!

Aamir Khan’s play Laal Singh Chaddha debuted after a four-year hiatus and probably had higher expectations than received. Early reports said that the Advait Chandan film fetched between Rs. 7.75 and 8.25 crores on its second day in theaters on Friday.

For the second day in a row, the film performed very poorly at the box office, with only national multiplex channels showing signs of life. Revenues were satisfactory in the Delhi NCR and East Punjab markets. While attendance was decent at several cinemas in Delhi and Mumbai, it was weak in the mass circuits.

We don’t expect Laal Singh Chaddha to do well at the box office anywhere outside of metropolitan areas because his performance in the mass belts was, shall we say, abysmal. There are plenty of days off this week, giving Laal Singh Chaddha a chance to salvage his box office performance, but his slow start has dashed any hopes of financial success. The verdict is unequivocal: this film will be a box office bomb.

Laal Singh Chaddha Box Office Collection Day 2

The second day of release was particularly bad for Aamir Khan’s film, with a 40% drop in ticket sales. About Rs 19 crore ($2.9 million) has been made there so far. Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan, saw a significant (but expected) drop in ticket sales on its second day in theaters.

Initial estimates from Box Office India put the film’s second-day earnings at around Rs 7 crore, down from its Thursday debut at around Rs 12 crore. The film has already earned a total of Rs 19 crore (nearly $3 million) in just two days.

After Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (Rs 14.1 crore) and Bachchan Pandey (Rs 13.2 crore), Laal Singh Chaddha’s debut was good enough for third place on the list of biggest box office debut this year, surpassing Samrat Prithviraj (Rs 10.7 crore), Gangubai Kathiawadi (Rs 10.5 crore) and Shamshera (Rs 10.2 crore) (Rs 10.2 crore).

Laal Singh Chaddha: Review

Forrest Gump’s reflections on love, life and the meaning of existence are articulated by Laal Singh Chaddha. The original may have done its job better with a laid-back, quiet approach, but the new image cranks up the volume. Expect a permanently wide-eyed Aamir Khan doing plenty of Punjabi dialect with PK’s body language and passion as the film chooses dialogue over silent tears.

It accelerates the film to the level of a Hindi commercial blockbuster but keeps the basic tenets of the story intact: a fairy tale in the vein of Disney, albeit without the luxury of magic but with an ingrained belief in miracles. . However, Laal Singh Chaddha (LSC) does not leave Forrest’s universe and keeps the action rooted in his own.

Attempting a remake of a beloved literary work is fraught with pitfalls. Forrest Gump’s (FG) twisting, overarching, nonlinear plot and deep, yet simple approach to life and its purpose make a remake even more difficult. You watch a fool as he wanders aimlessly through life, gaining wisdom as he goes.

Production

After acquiring the rights to remake the 1994 American drama Forrest Gump from his studio, Paramount Pictures, Aamir Khan declared his intention to remake the film in August 2018 and hinted that he might star in the remake. With his ex-wife Kiran Rao serving as producer, Khan officially confirmed the project on March 14, 2019, his 54th birthday.

The title of the film would be Laal Singh Chaddha. The original film’s director, Advait Chandan (Khan’s Secret Superstar, 2017), has been hired to helm the remake. The Hindi version of the film was adapted by Atul Kulkarni, Khan’s co-star from Rang De Basanti (2006).

When asked why it took so long to make the film, Kulkarni told Bollywood Hungama, “I wrote the screenplay ten years ago, but Aamir took a few years because he didn’t believe that I had to write a strong screenplay.”

Therefore, he had no intention of harming me. A few years later, he read the script and said, “I’m making this movie,” within the first thirty seconds. Since the whole movie is based on the original, Kulkarni added, “It took another 7-8 years to get the remake rights from the creators of the original (Paramount).
